Let’s Talk Virtual Design
Hi friends! On today’s blog I’ll be talking all about virtual design, what it is, what its benefits are, and who would benefit from this service. I’ll also talk about our virtual design process and how we work to understand your style, needs, and ideas for the space.
What is virtual design?
Virtual design is a way of working with our studio from afar, where we take our existing processes and adjust them to accommodate to our client’s location. For the most part, the process is the same, the only difference being that we allocate additional time for sample box shipments, travel time for key meetings (if full-service), and hold virtual video calls instead of in-person meetings for all others. This is super beneficial to our clients because it allows them to be able to work with their favorite design studio without the compromise of having to live in the same city.
What is the process of virtual design?
In order to make things a little more simplified, I’m going to share our process flow chart for design-only projects. This is for clients who hire us for their project with a focus solely on the design and bringing together all of the elements, excluding procurement and completion phases. Our process starts like the rest of our projects do, with a discovery call. Once we decide to proceed into a virtual design service, we hold a video call to walk through the space and get clear on scope of work in order to create your unique design proposal (design fee for the project). Once the proposal is approved we hold a project kick-off meeting. Below you’ll see our process flow chart and a little more information about each step.
What are the design deliverables included in virtual design?
Design deliverables really vary depending on the service we are doing for our client’s project (design-only, or full-service) but the deliverables that we consider a must are listed and explained below:
Mood Boards | These translate the mood, look, and feel of the space through imagery.
Design Boards | These are crucial for furnishing and styling projects to share the completed space with all selected product.
3D Renders | Renders are a must to get a sense of new layouts, home remodels, kitchens and bathrooms.
Floor Plans | Bird’s eye view showing the layout of either new space layout or existing space with furniture scale and placement.
Product Pages | These are used to share specifications of the product selected.
See below some examples.
